Take A Deep Breath
ArtHall, Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai, Cluj-Napoca, România. Martie 2023
The exhibition "Take a deep breath" wants to offer the visitor the opportunity to stop time in the charged situations that each individual feels in this sea of everyday uncertainty. This exhibition concept was born as a result of the need to be aware of and represent the external tumult, combated by the inner calm. Through Andradas Lolu works, portraits, self-portraits and landscapes, Andrada Lolu moves from the state of uncertainty in front of what will come, to the personal curative environment. Saturation and color play are used to illustrate the abrupt transition from choking to gasping required after each shock.

Step. Look. Turn back. Forget.

The exhibition "Take a deep breath" aims to explore the state of uncertainty in the face of charged situations that every individual feels in this sea of daily uncertainty, along with the opportunity to pause time, withdraw, and act later. To illustrate the stopping of time, the exhibition has been designed in the most homogeneous way to offer the visitor a unique environment that envelops them in a carefully crafted bubble, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the emotional experience of uncertainty and suffocation. This intentional design creates a strong sensation, eliciting a range of emotions and prompting introspection in the face of these overwhelming feelings.

Andrada Lolu's works address various portrayals of the feeling and human experience of uncertainty. Some works depict the moment of breathlessness, while others explore the effects of oxygen deprivation. Through the use of vibrant colors, form, and composition, the paintings create a strong sense of immediacy and emotional intensity, inviting viewers to engage with the experiences of the depicted individuals. The selected works aim to display different outcomes of the state of uncertainty.

The concept arose from the need to become aware of and represent the external turmoil, countered by inner peace, with the visitor being compelled to engage in a moment of introspection. This deliberate act allows them to fully immerse themselves in the organized environment and connect with the art and its message on a deeper level. Taking this moment to reflect on their own experiences and emotions, visitors are able to engage with the exhibition in a more personal and meaningful way. Through this process of introspection, the exhibition becomes a space for self-discovery and reflection as visitors confront their own perspectives and consider the broader themes and messages present.
